I got really inspired to build this Tamiya T-55A after looking through the pictures in Tamiya Model magazine #97. Thank you Marcus Nicholls!
I built this tank straight out of box with some scratch built parts and used Tamiya acryllic paints and some pastels for weathering. I made lense caps out of LEDs by sawing off rounded tips and then carefully sending the flat side until it was just the right diameter. It's not as hard project as it may sound. Tow cable is made out of picture hanging cable/wire (mine was white metal and not brass as described in the magazine). Used copper wire and aluminum foil to rework some handle s and parts. Basically I was learning a lot of things as I was building this tank. My truly first extensive scratch-built detailing project. These pictures show better than words what exactly was added and where. The camouflage pattern is inspired by a real tank that is located somewhere in Britain (I'm not sure). There are some pictures of it that I found on the net and some were emailed to me by a nice gentleman from Missing Links discussion board (whose name I completely forgot). Unfortunately the kit didn't include sporty numbers just like on the real tank. 'Gvardia' decal is from Dragon T-80 kit.
